Corporate environmental communications

Includes guidance from international communications standard, ISO 14063

A specialised environmental media training course for communications managers

Corporate environmental communication is a vital part of the CSR agenda and an essential tool for strengthening your organisation's reputation and credibility.

This one-day media-training course is designed for corporate social responsibility and public affairs staff, environment managers and others responsible for communicating environmental policies and reporting environmental performance. This course will help you plan and deliver everything from corporate communications strategies down to grass roots / shop floor environmental management systems.

The framework for the course is based on ISO 14063, a new international environmental communications standard specifically designed to help organisations deal with the growing media demands for openness and transparency about their environmental impacts and performance.

The course adopts a twin track approach focusing on raising environmental awareness internally and communicating externally with the media, customers, local communities and other stakeholder interests.

Key topics in this course include how to:

  • take control and manage the media more effectively
  • conduct broadcast interviews, stay 'on message' and avoid the pitfalls
  • prepare your Environmental Communications Policy and Strategy in line with ISO 14063
  • structure your internal environmental communications programmes
  • get your environmental messages across to all stakeholders
  • your introduction to blogging, podcasting and other new media communications

Training Pack — All topics on this course are included in a comprehensive media training pack including programme, exercise material, press release guide and interview checklists. You will also receive a performance evaluation which will help define your organisation's media strengths and requirements.

This one-day course has been developed by QoL Media Communications and Green Inck. The course will be run by media coach and former BBC Environment Correspondent John Barwise AIEMA and Christopher Sheldon, environmental standards and communications specialist.
